Hello everyone,
Exciting news from the USCIS! A second round of random selection for the FY 2025 H-1B cap is on the way, providing another chance for hopeful beneficiaries.
Initial Selection Recap
Back in March, USCIS conducted its first random selection for the FY 2025 H-1B cap. This included both regular cap and advanced degree exemption beneficiaries. Only those who were selected during this round were eligible to file their H-1B cap-subject petitions from April 1 to June 30, 2024.
Why a Second Selection?
USCIS has now determined that additional registrations are needed to meet the FY 2025 regular cap. Therefore, they will soon conduct a second round of random selection from the previously submitted electronic registrations.
What Does This Mean for You?
If you are selected in this second round, you will be notified and can file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the named beneficiary. However, there will be no second selection for the advanced degree exemption (master’s cap), as enough registrations were already selected to meet the FY 2025 numerical allocation.
Next Steps
- Selected Registrations: If your registration is selected, your USCIS online account will be updated with a selection notice. This notice will provide details on when and where to file your petition.
- Notification: USCIS will notify prospective petitioners with selected registrations from this second round, confirming their eligibility to file.
